Vaping ‘a problem’, says Trump as officials move to ban flavoured e-cigarettes
US President Donald Trump today said that vaping is “not wonderful” as he moved to ban flavoured e-cigarettes from the US market.
New proposals put forward by the administration would ban all flavours, apart from tobacco, from being sold in the US.

“We have a problem in our country, it’s a new problem … and it’s called vaping,” Trump said.
Health officials have linked six recent deaths to e-cigarettes. Around 450 cases of vape-related lung illnesses are being investigated.
“Vaping has become a very big business … in a short period of time,” Trump said. “But we can’t allow people to get sick, and we can’t have our youth get so affected.”
He added: “A lot of people think that vaping is wonderful; it’s great. It’s not wonderful … it’s got big problems.”

Officials are worried that sweet flavours, such as fruit, are attracting children. The Food and Drug Administration is working on a guidance document.
