Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to ring changes in Zagreb
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to rest players for tonight’s Champions League expedition, despite facing a task that has proved insurmountable to Dinamo Zagreb’s last 41 opponents.
The Gunners arrive in Croatia looking to end a Dinamo unbeaten run that stretches back to November but Wenger still plans to rotate his squad with a three more away games, including derbies against Chelsea and Tottenham, to follow.
“It is quite easy to change two or three players, [more] than it was in years before because they are all at a very good level,” he said. “I know the same team cannot play every single game over the next three weeks. I try to keep the balance right and give a little breather to players.”
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey and right-back Hector Bellerin have been left behind for the Group F opener, although Wenger insists he does not underestimate in-form Dinamo.
“We have to play at our best to beat them,” he added. “They have not lost a game for 11 months. Dinamo dominate in Croatia but we want to focus on our performance.”
