Wenger: Season’s not over, it’s still so exciting
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger insists his demoralised team’s season is not slipping away, despite seeing them tumble out of a third competition in a fortnight at Old Trafford on Saturday.
A 2-0 defeat to Manchester United ended their hopes of lifting the FA Cup, hot on the heels of their elimination from the Champions League at Barcelona and a farcical Carling Cup final loss to Birmingham.
To make matters worse, Wenger is losing key players with every passing match, defender Johan Djourou becoming the latest victim with a dislocated shoulder, yet the Frenchman remains hopeful of winning the Premier League.
“My biggest task is to lift the players for what lies ahead. We have a massive task now but the challenge we are aiming for now is so exciting,” said Wenger.
“I believe we can do it and I don’t feel like the season is slipping away. We are used to being questioned. We have to show we are strong enough to deal with it.”
