WINNERS & LOSERS

A WEEKEND is a long time in sport, as this lot will attest. But while for some it was a few days to remember, others may wish they had never set foot out of the house.

SIMON KHAN
Only a brave man would have bet on the Essex man to win the BMW PGA Championship, but in the Surrey sun Khan shone brightest and can presumably now afford to buy his wife, who celebrated her birthday yesterday, a decent present.

IAN HOLLOWAY
Not so long ago he was better known for his amusing and often surreal post-match comments; now Holloway has a pedigree to match his media profile, having delivered the most unlikely of promotions to down-at-heel Blackpool.

LEWIS HAMILTON
Hamilton, currently enduring another disappointing year in Formula One, was yesterday formally charged for his so-called burnout on the streets of Melbourne in March. At least Australia’s ministers have stopped calling him a dickhead.
