Are you living in the best place in Britain? Bristol named top by Sunday Times, while Peckham best in London

Peckham has been named the best place to live in London, going from a "no-go" area to "hipster heaven".

The south London area's improvement was credited partly to its abundance of grime DJs, in this year's Sunday Times Best Places to Live list.

Other up and coming areas highlighted in the index include Canonbury, Walthamstow – and the City, due to a recent increase in the number of bars, restaurants and gyms in the Square Mile.

Meanwhile, the south west City of Bristol has been crowned the best place to live in Britain for its proximity to seaside, scenery and impressive schools among other things.

“Bristol faced stiff competition from many wonderful places to live across Britain," said Helen Davies, home editor of the Sunday Times which compiled the ranking.

"But the city is a worthy winner thanks to its ideal combination of extraordinary culture, impressive schools, buzzing culinary scene, exciting redevelopment and community spirit. We sum the city up as cool, classy and supremely creative.”

Bristol knocks Winchester off the top spot taking into account everything from figures on crime, exam results, broadband speeds and the views of a judging panel.
