London Marathon 2015: City gents set a better rate than Bank governor Mark Carney

In the race for success in the City, business leaders were spotted donning their Sunday best high-tech lycra at the weekend, to pit their footsies against each other in the fiercest battle of the year so far – the Virgin Money London Marathon 2015.

From firing-line to finish, top-dog in the pack of City wolves appeared to be Bank of England governor Mark Carney.

Crossing the line in a nippy three hours, 31 minutes, 22 seconds, Carney, who turned 50 last month, left Barclays boss Antony Jenkins, who achieved a time of 04:59:47, for dust. Meanwhile Dave Thomas, European chief executive of RBC Capital Markets, completed the gargantuan task in 05:04:18.

A younger breed of City stalwarts broke ahead, including director of CME group Stuart Loberg, who beat Carney with a time of 03:11:53, as did Gavin Doig of the operations team at Allianz Global Investors with 03:23:40, chased by portfolio manager at Deutsche Bank Kevin Bliss on 03:25:14.

But who else beat Carney – and who was the fastest City runner of all? If you know of any business boys or girls who ran faster, then email: [email protected]
