Airbus files another wacky patent for detachable cabins to cut down boarding time
Another day, another wacky patent from Airbus.
Among surprise charges for obvious services such as baggage check-in fees, having to navigate an airport carpark as well as flight delays, the time it takes to actually board a plane probably isn't towards the top of most people's list of flying-related annoyances.
But a patent unearthed by Wired shows that, for anyone who is in the minority, the aircraft manufacturer Airbus has dreamed up detachable cabins. The design will essentially cut the time its takes for passengers to board a plane.

Currently, passengers must wait at their gate for a plane to dock before they can board it. However, the latest design means they'll board the detachable cabin which is then lowered onto the body of the plane.
It joins a host of other zany design proposals from Airbus, such as standing, bicycle-like seats which would fit more people in, and a hypersonic plane that could fly from London to New York in just one hour.
