Where to stay

Brody House is a great reflection of the new, young Budapest. You don’t just get a room – you get an “inspiring space”, and it’s as well known for its parties as its suites. The rooms are beautiful in their own right, though, with a cool, shabby-chic vibe. brodyhouse.com

Where to go

Széchenyi Baths are perhaps the most famous thermal baths in a town that’s famed across the world for them. Enjoy both indoor and outdoor pools at a vast range of temperatures.

Where to drink

If you want to hang with the cool kids, you want to find a “ruin bar”. These are located in formerly abandoned buildings – usually grand old townhouses – and tend to attract artists and designers. We recommend Szimpla Ruin Bar

Where to eat

Hungary isn’t renowned on the international stage for its cuisine, but there are decent places if you know where to look. You’ll get a nice, affordable meal at Spinoza Cafe, and there is live music, too. spinozacafe.hu
