Amazon and Microsoft in talks to park in self-driving car space with cloud computing
Amazon and Microsoft are in discussions to provide cloud computing to a digital mapping business owned by a group making self-driving cars.
BMW, Audi and Daimler acquired Here Maps from Nokia for €2.8bn (£1.97bn) last year.

Reuters has reported that the technology companies are in talks with the group and that Amazon is considering becoming a shareholder in the digital mapper.
Intelligent mapping systems provide information to self-driving cars.

Sources were quoted saying Amazon “would take a stake as part of a broader deal to lock them in as a provider of cloud computing services” and Microsoft is interested in developing “closer ties” with Here.
Microsoft and Amazon have not responded to requests for comment.
A Here spokesman told Morning Wire: "Shareholders have stressed since the acquisition in early December last year that they are open for new and other investors – from all industries – to broaden the shareholder base for HERE."
