Angelina Jolie and Lord William Hague are going to teach at the London School of Economics

Will there be record attendance levels at LSE this year?

The London School of Economics and Political Science is upping its entertainment factor, as Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie has been appointed as a visiting lecturer alongside former foreign secretary Lord William Hague on the university's Msc course on women, peace and security.

Visiting professors play an active part at the university, delivering guest lectures to students, participating in expert workshops and public events, and undertaking their own work.

Starting this autumn, students will be able to apply to take the new masters course in Women, Peace and Security, taking lectures from Jolie and Hague as well as Jane Connors, director of international advocacy at Amnesty International Geneva, and Madeleine Rees OBE, Secretary General of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.

Jolie is famed for her stints as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider films, as well as blockbusters like Mr and Mrs Smith, Changeling, Salt and Maleficent, but has turned her hand to international relations in recent years. in 2011 she established the Jolie Legal Fellowship, a global network of lawyers working to uphold human rights in their own countries.

Meanwhile, Lord Hague has gone the other way. The Tory peer and former foreign secretary has worked with Jolie on the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative which launched in 2012, but has been making big waves in the City's dinner party-speech circuit.

Hague has been a regular feature at parties all over London, from giving thanks at Lord Ashcroft's 70th birthday bash to splitting sides at the PLC Awards and spilling secrets to Westminster property bosses on how to answer tough questions in any hairy situation.

Let's hope Hague is trying out some new material next academic year.
