Wimbledon 2015 betting tips: Back deadly Djokovic to beat Gasquet in four-set semi

Despite not playing his best tennis at this year’s Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic finds himself in yet another Grand Slam semi-final that he should win.

The Serb was unspectacularly solid in the quarters when seeing off former US Open winner Marin Cilic.

But his epic match against Kevin Anderson in the fourth round will live long in the memory.

The lanky South African is in the form of his life and gave Andy Murray a scare in the Queen’s Club final.

He also exposed Djokovic’s vulnerability when going two sets ahead before the world No.1 stormed back to win.

The Djokovic of last year wouldn’t have found himself in that position. Even if he’s not hit those highs this time round he should have more than enough today against Richard Gasquet to progress to his third successive Wimbledon final.

The Frenchman, who frequently reapplied grip to his racquets during the protracted contest, out-lasted a sluggish Stan Wawrinka 11-9 in the fifth set.

You have to go all the way back to 2007 – the only other time he has reached the last four in SW19 – to find a Gasquet win against Djokovic and I just can’t see it happening again today.

However, the man with the brilliant backhand is no pushover, so I’ll be looking to Djokovic to win three-sets–to-one, at 3/1 with Betway.

This match may be the appetiser for the later Federer v Murray clash, but don’t expect it to be to be over quickly.

A small buy of total points played, at 216 with Sporting Index, may be wise.

■ Pointers…

  • Novak Djokovic to win 3-1 at 3/1 with Betway
  • Buy total points played in the match at 216 with Sporting Index
