British summer finally arrives: London to sizzle in high temperatures all weekend
Time to dust off that barbecue: the capital will reach highs of 25 degrees this weekend, the Met Office has said.
You may have got used to keeping your umbrella at the ready thanks to the summer’s constant downpours – but this weekend’s forecast shows the good weather will carry on through to Sunday and into early next week.
The capital will hit highs of 25 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, before temperatures rise as high as 28 degrees on Tuesday.
The atmosphere is expected to be slightly different in the northern part of England, where the weather is expected to be “feeling fresher”, said the Met Office.
Londoners will breathe a sigh of relief: last month, bookies halted bets on June being the wettest-ever after the uk experienced record breaking showers throughout the month, with Wimbledon and Glastonbury both being near-washouts.
The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations was also affected by the showers, with those attending the Patron’s Lunch forced to don raincoats as they ate soggy sandwiches.
In early June, parts of the capital were submerged in two metres of water, causing severe transport delays.
