Lidl is selling kilts for Burns Night in its latest Scottish inspired clothing range
Fancy picking up a kilt for Burns night with your weekly shop? Now you can thanks to Lidl with its latest range inspired by the Highlands.
The German discounter is rolling out a line of traditional Scottish clothing across its UK stores after a successful trial in Scotland which sold out within days.
Whether there's quite so much demand south of the border remains to be seen, but there’s a choice of two different tartan kilts at £29.99, a ghillie shirt (a traditional loose-fitting shirt) at £11.99 and a leather sporran at a bargain £9.99 for anyone looking to get into the spirit of things on 25 January.
“This fantastic range, at unbelievably low prices, will give everyone the chance to celebrate Burns Night in proper Scottish style whilst showcasing Scotland's proud heritage and traditions,” said Lidl non-food buying manager Josie Stone. "Highland wear can often be unaffordable to many, costing hundreds of pounds, so it's great to be able to offer an eight yard kilt for under £30."
There's also children's playable bagpipes priced at £12.99, but parents might want to stay away from those- it could get very old very soon.
In addition to the couture, the supermarket will be promoting its Scottish range of food for those wanting to mark the annual celebration of Scottish poet Robert Burns.
