Central Line: Commuters rescue man from Oxford Circus Tube tracks
Oxford Circus Tube station was closed earlier this morning after heroic commuters rescued a man who had “collapsed” onto the tracks.
Rush hour commuters suffered lengthy delays when the entire Central line was suspended as police dealt with the incident.

Transport for London (TfL) said the line is now operating with minor delays between White City and Ealing Broadway/West Ruislip.
Oxford Circus was closed for roughly 10 minutes at 9.15am as police responded to reports of a man on the tracks.
Reports stated that the man was rescued by brave commuters who jumped down onto the tracks and lifted him back onto the platform, while others alerted the approaching train.
“I heard gasps then watched the man almost flip onto the track. He was crumpled below it,” one witness told the Mirror.
“There was a lot of panic in a very crowded platform but people were very quick to hit the alarm, shout to stop the train (there had been a 10 minute delay – the next train scheduled was an empty train).”
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “ Officers were called to Oxford Circus Underground station at 9.15am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Another man went onto the tracks to help the casualty onto the platform, and he was also checked over by paramedics. Thankfully he is not believed to have suffered any injuries.

“Paramedics also attended alongside police medics from the Network Incident Response Unit, and a man has been taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.”
