Today's City Moves includes Ikea, EIP and McLarens.

Ikea

Ikea has announced the appointment of Peter Jelkeby as country retail manager with responsibility for the UK and Ireland. Taking over from Javier Quinones, who joins Ikea USA as country retail manager, Peter will continue to strengthen Ikea’s position as the number one home furnishing retailer in the UK and Ireland and will lead the on-going transformation of the Ikea business, at a challenging time for the retail industry. In recent years, Peter worked at Swedish retailer Clas Ohlson where he held the roles of executive vice president/chief operating officer, director of operations and most recently acting chief executive officer. He is now responsible for more than 12,000 Ikea co-workers across both countries.

EIP

Intellectual Property (IP) law firm, EIP, has announced the appointment of Kathleen Fox Murphy as partner to the patent litigation group. Kathleen joins from Browne Jacobson, where she held the role of partner and head of the London patent litigation team for three years. Kathleen previously spent over 18 years at Taylor Wessing. Kathleen has nearly 20 years’ experience working in patent litigation and she is renowned for providing exceptional strategic patent advice across a variety of industry sectors, including telecoms, electronics, IT, pharmaceutical and engineering and chemical industries. She is highly experienced in multi-jurisdictional patent litigation having acted in some of the most high-profile patent disputes of the last 20 years, including acting for Ericsson in the landmark Unwired Planet case. She also recently acted for Sandoz, an arm of Novartis, in respect of patent infringement and SPC issues arising in respect of UK product launches.

McLarens

McLarens, a global independent insurance services provider, has announced the appointment of David Pigot to the newly created role of director of London markets & global head of specialty. Reporting to chief executive officer Gary Brown, David will focus on developing expanded solutions for the London market and driving growth in McLarens’ specialty divisions. David has a strong track record of success, with more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining McLarens, David held key leadership positions at international insurance services firms, including executive roles at both Cunningham Lindsey and Marsh. David holds several industry credentials, including associate of the chartered insurance institute, fellow of the chartered institute of loss adjusters, european loss adjusting expert and chartered insurance practitioner.
