Contador quits team Astana
CYCLING: Tour de France winner Alberto Contador is to leave Astana at the end of the season.
The Spaniard, who has won two of his three Tours in Astana colours, rejected the team’s offer to extend his contract, admitting he was considering offers elsewhere.
A representative of Contador said: “The position of both parties was not so far from each other, but the team wanted to know [whether he would renew his deal]. Alberto Contador has rejected the ultimatum of Astana.”
