Crypto markets slip as investors digest latest interest rate news
The price of Bitcoin dropped for a fourth straight day yesterday, but continued to trade in the narrow range between $23-25k where it’s been for the past week. The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation is changing hands for $23,412 at time of writing, down 1.85 per cent over the past 24 hours.
The price of Ether has also slipped slightly this morning, down 2.5 per cent since this time yesterday to $1,845. Stocks also struggled, with the technology-focused Nasdaq falling 1.2 per cent and the S&P 500 down 0.5 per cent.
The big news for investors yesterday was the release of minutes from last month’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which seemed to indicate that the US Federal Reserve would continue raising interest rates but was open to downward adjustments in the near future.
