Central Line travellers faced more delays during the evening rush hour, as service resumed with severe delays following the derailing of an engineers' train in the early hours of this morning and a person on the track in the middle of the afternoon.

The morning rush hour was thrown into chaos after the train derailed at Holland Park in the early hours of the morning, causing trains to be suspended between White City and Marble Arch in West London.

The result was disruption to one of the main commuter routes into the central London, with severe delays on the rest of the line while investigators from the rail accident investigation branch examined the scene.

Meanwhile, a fire closed Bond Street station, while Wanstead and South Woodford, both on the Central Line, were closed because of overcrowding.

In the afternoon, westbound services were suspended between Leytonstone and Holborn after a person was discovered on the track.

Service on the line wasn't restored until late afternoon, but Transport for London (TfL) advised commuters to stay away Passengers were advised to take other routes on which tickets are were accepted. All other lines are running a good service.
