Money continues to be pumped into the UK eSports market with leading streaming platform DingIt.tv the latest to raise seven-figure sums of capital.

DingIt.tv, which offers a HD streaming platform to eSports firms around the world, has secured $1.5m of seed funding from London venture capital firm Black Green Capital.

The seed and A-round investment specialists said it was attracted to the high-growth eSports market and a company it believes will be the "premier go to platform for all eSports events".

ESports, or professional video gaming, has a global audience of 205m that is rapidly expanding. Fans pay to attend live competitions hosted in jam packed arenas, while millions more watch online streams of the action from home. Both provide replete opportunities for marketing revenue – games market researchers Newzoo predict total industry revenue to top $465m by 2017.

For example, last month's Extreme Masters World Championship in Poland attracted 100,000 attendees and over 1m viewers online.

DingIt.tv offers HD streaming for live streams as well as video-on-demand that it claims "requires virtually no buffering" for the user, with a full integrated advertising management platform.

Chief executive and founder Mark Hain said:

The bottom line is that end users get true HD quality onto all of their devices, live events are not disrupted by adverts and engagement is significantly enhanced meaning better end results for the broadcaster and advertiser. This is a significant step up to what is available today, and is entirely based on proprietary technology meaning we have a significant edge in the market…

…Black Green Capital share our vision of the future of DingIt's disruptive broadcast streaming technology and unique online ad model, and are bringing both the financial backing as well as their own entrepreneurial skill set that will help drive our success.
