Fabregas: I’ll let Arsenal decide future
ARSENAL captain Cesc Fabregas has indicated he will not try to force the club’s hand over his desire to join Barcelona, insisting he is leaving the decision up to Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.
Fabregas has told Wenger he wants a move back to his former club, seven years after swapping Catalonia for north London, and the Spanish champions have made no secret of their wish to sign him.
But a deal still looks some way off, with Barca expected to open the bidding at £30m, but Arsenal wanting nearer double that amount for their most influential player, who they have no appetite to sell.
“I will only say one thing, I have great respect for Arsene Wenger, for Arsenal and for the fans. Sometimes I feel more love at Arsenal than I do in my house,” said the 23-year-old.
“I had a long conversation with Arsene. It was probably the greatest conversation I’ve had in my life and I respect him so much and I don’t want to say too much about this.
“He told me to concentrate on my football and the World Cup, to leave it in his hands, he will deal with whatever happens in my future and that’s what I’m doing, just concentrating on football.
“It’s not up to me any more and now it’s just about Arsenal and wherever it has to be and that’s it. I don’t want to say anything else, I just want to be focused for the World Cup – I’m not interested in the future.”
