Football film starring Martine McCutcheon and Alan Davies crowdfunds to find back of the net
The maker of an independent British film starring Alan Davies and Martine McCutcheon has turned to the crowd as it seeks funding for the production.
ItchyFishFilm is aiming to raise £640,000 to support production of the film and has already secured £305,000 from a lead investor group fronted by Bolton Wanderers Football Club chairman Ken Anderson.

It is aiming to secure the remaining funds from SyndicateRoom members.
The feel-good film is entitled the Bromley Boys, inspired by the book of the same name, and stars Jonathan Creek star Davies and McCutcheon, who appeared in EastEnders and Love Actually.
The film, which is described as “Billy Elliott meets Bend It Like Beckham”, is about Bromley football club in the 1969/70 season when it was bottom of the lowest non-league division.

Steve Kelly, director of the Bromley Boys, said: “This film aims to tell a timeless coming-of-age story of a teenage infatuation, falling in love with the very heart of British life.
“As such, it is a story that many can identify with. I hope that individuals across Britain who can see a bit of themselves in the story take an equity stake in seeing this film’s success.”
