Harry will spend again to boost title challenge
TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp will spend again in January in order to boost his side’s title challenge.
As revealed by Morning Wire 10 days ago, the former Portsmouth manager has been given the green light to dip into the record £120m revenues the club generated last year.
Saturday’s dramatic 3-2 win over Arsenal in the north London derby, secured by Younes Kaboul’s late header, moved Spurs to within six points of joint leaders Chelsea and Manchester Untied. And Redknapp believes that several shrewd additions to his squad would propel his charges into the thick of the race for the Premier Leauge crown.
“We need to tweak it to finish it off,” he said. “I think Tottenham have got a championship in them in the next few years.
“Just because they haven’t for a while, doesn’t mean that Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal or Liverpool will carry on winning it. Why can’t someone else win it?
“I feel, with the right ambition, we can go on and win it. There’s one or two other bits we could do without spending a fortune that could make a difference to the team.
“I think Tottenham are now getting closer and the championship is wide open.”
Wenger bemused by poor home form
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger admits his side must make Emirates Stadium a fortress if they are have any hope of challenging for the title.
Saturday’s capitulation against Spurs means the Gunners have now lost three times on their own patch this season.
Wenger said: “Yes I agree. Three home defeats are three too many. The first two games we didn’t deliver the performance and we can only say that we got what we deserved.
“Here we delivered the performance, but what is worrying for me is that we had an opportunity to go to the top of the league and when we have to deliver we can’t. That’s worrying because that’s part of our job. We put ourselves in the right position and we failed.”
