Hong Kong Horse Racing Tips: Back Pegasus to come flying home from a low draw

AS ALWAYS, the Happy Valley race card is full of tightly-knit handicaps, with the draw, pace of the race and luck playing an important role in determining the winner.

Past records over the last three seasons on the “A’ course, indicate horses drawn low have a big advantage over their wider drawn rivals, especially in sprint races.

Statistics also favour horses that are up or near the front from the off, especially with a tight home bend and then just over 300 metres to the winning line.

One horse that caught the eye over the six-furlong track three weeks ago was YEE CHEONG PEGASUS who, from a double-figure draw, had to sit and suffer for the majority.

He finished his race off strongly to finish sixth, beaten only one-and-a-half lengths.

This Australian four-year-old has always been highly-regarded by the David Hall stable and finally gets a chance to show his true ability, coming from an inside draw in the 1.15pm.

With the likes of Joyful Heart, Wah May Princess and Le Terroir in opposition, he may start at attractive odds but should be hard to keep out of the frame.

It’s been a similar story with the Peter Ho-trained PRECIOUS SWEETIE, who has found awkward draws against him in six runs this season but finally gets a favourable berth in the 12.45pm over six furlongs.

There were lots to like about his recent performance, when after returning from a three-month break and racing wide for most of the journey, he still stayed on strongly in the closing stages.

This time he has everything in his favour.
