Inter target Carvalho may stay at Blues

CHELSEA defender Ricardo Carvalho insists he still has a future at Stamford Bridge despite being pursued by former boss Jose Mourinho.
 

The Inter Milan boss has made Carvalho and Blues team-mate Deco his two main transfer targets this summer and has instructed club president Massimo Moratti to do what it takes to lure the Portuguese pair.
 

Both Carvalho and Deco are familiar faces to Mourinho having played for him at Porto, before Carvalho followed his mentor to Chelsea in 2004.
 

Since then, the centre back has become a huge favourite at Stamford Bridge, forming a well-balanced defensive partnership with captain John Terry, and helping the club to back-to-back Premier League titles.
 

Injury, however, restricted Carvalho to just 18 appearances last season, but with Inter Milan swooping amid suggestions his days in England are numbered, the 31-year-old insisted he still had plenty to offer the club. “This year it hasn’t gone well at Chelsea because I was injured,” he said. “But prior to that, I had enjoyed four fantastic seasons and you don’t forget that. Deco’s situation and mine are very different. I have been at Chelsea for five years while he has only been there one. I am not sure if he wants to change. With regards to me, my last year here was one to forget about but I could also remain. But if Chelsea wants to sell me that’s fine by me.”
 

Moratti earlier said: “Mourinho has asked us for Deco and Carvalho and we are working towards making him happy. I have seen the players’ intention is to join us. We still haven’t reached an agreement with Chelsea but I think we will do in a short time.”
 

Carvalho, however, insists he is yet to speak to Mourinho about a move to the San Siro. “I have not spoken to Mourinho in a long time and I have neither spoken to our new manager Carlo Ancelotti,” he added. “Next week I will meet the club and discuss my future.”
