KP: Let’s end winter on a high
KEVIN PIETERSEN has called on England to finish their busy winter on a high with “one final push” in Dhaka tomorrow.
The second Test with Bangladesh brings an end to a hectic programme which has taken England to the middle east via the Champions Trophy in South Africa, an away Test series against the Proteas and a whistle-stop Twenty20 series with Pakistan in Dubai.
England lead the series 1-0 after their 181-run victory in the first Test in Chittagong this week, and Pietersen, who himself has something to prove after a recent slump in form, is calling on the tourists to finish on a high note.
“We started out a long time ago but it’s been a pretty successful winter for us,” he said. “It’s been a big winter for us but there is still one final push needed.
“Generally we don’t end tours on the best note so this is an opportunity for all of us to make sure we get stuck in and dig deep and get that victory.
“Of course we’d have liked to beat Australia and gone on in the Champions Trophy in November but for the team this has been a great winter in terms of results. It’s been a good team effort and to win this last one would be fantastic.”
While his team-mates can look forward to finally flying back home, Pietersen’s schedule continues with the 29-year-old due to join up with Indian Premier League side, the Bangalore Royal Challengers, for a four-week stint next week.
