MP Simon Danczuk has to pay back over £11,000 after “error” in expenses claims
MP Simon Danczuk is going to have to pay back over £11,000 after wrongly claiming money.
The MP had claimed money for the cost of his children living in London, sparking local Liberal Democrats to ask the police to check if he had wrongly claimed the money.
Now the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority has ordered Danczuk to pay back £11,583.20.

“The evidence points overwhelmingly to the conclusion that the MP obtained an increase to his Accommodation Expenditure budget by claiming dependant uplifts for his two oldest children for a period of over three years, when, at no point were either of the children routinely resident,” the Ipsa report said.
The Labour politician admitted he had made an "error" and "holds his hands up" while promising to re-pay all the money "at the earliest opportunity".
Danczuk was suspended from Labour late last year amid allegations that he sent a 17-year-old girl explicit text messages.
