Ralph Lauren has signed the lease on a shop in Covent Garden for the first UK branch of its Rugby franchise, set to open in autumn 2011. The feel is “campus” meets “downtown prep”. There’s a whiff of Britishness about it, given the “classic, sporting heritage” of the brand – and, of course, the sport of its title. www.rugby.com
