Lions can slay Robins to win vital promotion

HAVING seen Norwich and Leeds go up, Millwall and Swindon lock horns tomorrow in the quest to join them in the Championship. The Lions are 4/7 favourites to clinch promotion with Swindon 5/4 to inflict more Wembley misery on the Londoners who lost 3-2 to Scunthorpe at the same ground in this very game a year ago.
Memories of Martyn Woolford’s late winner that day should be enough to spur Kenny Jackett’s men on, but I think they’ll have too much for the Robins in any case.
Millwall have won two and drawn two of the last four meetings between the two sides, while Swindon are without suspended captain Gordon Greer. It was a high scoring contest between these two when they met at the New Den on the last day of the season, with Millwall winning 3-2 thanks to a brace from Steve Morison. That has been a feature of the Robins’ matches recently; there has been an average of four goals in their last five games.
It won’t be easy for the Lions, but their experience of playing at Wembley should give them the edge and I’ll be backing them at 6/5 with William Hill to win in 90 minutes. I also wouldn’t put anyone off a small bet on a 3-1 scoreline at 20/1 on Betdaq, while spread bettors should look to buy goals at 2.7 with Sporting Index.

LEICESTER TIGERS vs SARACENS

LEICESTER Tigers and Saracens go head-to-head at Twickenham tomorrow afternoon, bidding to become 2010 Guinness Premiership champions. The Tigers finished just two points ahead of the chasing pack in the league, while Sarries ended up third, four points off the leaders. It’s easy to see why Leicester are fancied as they’re defending champions and are making their sixth final appearance on the spin.
These sides have met 63 times in the past and the Tigers have a clear advantage, winning 49 to Sarries’ 10 victories. If we look at the Guinness Premiership record, it’s firmly in Leicester’s favour with 17 wins from the 26 clashes.
Richard Cockerill’s side were top scorers in the league this season with 541 points, but Sporting Index still only have them as 3-6 point favourites tomorrow. That may be because Saracens won 32-23 at Welford Road a few weeks to inflict the Tigers’ first home defeat of the season, but they haven’t won a trophy since the Tetley’s Bitter Cup in 1997/98.
Even though Saracens played well last week, the Tigers have proved they have the experience for the big occasion and that should be enough tomorrow. I’ll be backing them in the outright market at 4/7 with Boylesports, as well as giving up four points on the handicap at EVS with Bet365.

Richard Hannon did us a favour last weekend and I’ll be backing his ANGEL’S PURSUIT to land Haydock’s 2.30pm contest tomorrow. He was a decent two-year-old and picked up a nice prize at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting before finishing second to Awzaan in the Mill Reef. He showed that he had trained on when producing a blistering turn of foot at Newbury last time, reeling in the well-regarded Society Rock and he will be hard to beat if reproducing that effort.
MAIN AIM looks to have been found the ideal opportunity in the Jury Stakes an hour later. Sir Michael Stoute’s charge won this race comfortably last year and was flying at the death at York over six furlongs on his seasonal reappearance. He will relish the step up in trip and looks to have Lord Shanakill to beat. The latter, switched to the red-hot Henry Cecil stable this winter, ran a decent race to finish third behind Paco Boy in the Group 1 Lockinge and he’d be the one for the forecast.
Finally, don’t miss ETON FOREVER in the last. The son of Oratorio may only be having his third racecourse start, but he is held in high regard by his trainer and looked useful when winning at Kempton last time
