London Bridge faces travel chaos after train derails outside Brighton station

Commuters are facing an evening of crowds and delays after an empty train derailed outside Brighton station earlier today.

No injuries have been reported but there are no services running in or out of Brighton. On the hottest day of the year so far rush-hour commuters are expected to be hit with delays up to an hour long.

Both Southern Rail and Thameslink tweeted warnings to travelers that the transport hub would be facing severe strain this evening.

 

 

 

 

More delays and crowded platforms are the last thing London Bridge commuters need after several months' travel chaos.

After dealing with some of most challenging of circumstances, train operator Southeastern recently decided to give 4,000 members of staff shopping vouchers as a thank you for dealing with the difficulties.

Speaking to Kent Online, a Southeastern spokesman said:

Each employee received one £25 voucher. That was a one-off token of appreciation… to reflect the commitment of staff in helping passengers and the hard work that has gone into delivering the large-scale changes in the new year.
