WOMEN fond of statement power-dressing and cosy-sexy outfits rejoice: Autumn/Winter 2011 promises to be a riot of silky knits, tweedy suits, luxuriant fabrics and stunning colours in hyper-autumnal hues.

At City favourite Aquascutum there was strident architectural outwear – coats and jackets in sharp boxy shapes (see picture). There was a real emphasis on suit dressing: immaculate matching separates in lovely shades that are feminine but strong. Evening wear was slinky and silky – long dresses with low-cut necks. Irwin Jordan (Zoe Jordan is Formula One tycoon Eddie Jordan’s daughter) was big on lacey, vintage, curve-hugging dresses. House of Holland was brilliant fun: sequenned prom dresses in loud patchwork were a favourite of mine. Amanda Wakeley presented great, sharp looks for the professional woman: graphite-style lines and colours; pebble, patent tweed, stretch fur (there was much fur) and sculptural collars. At Erdem, tweeds ruled and Roksanda Ilincic presented still more sleek luxury.

Holly Fulton was a powerhouse of sexy prints and long dresses. Zoe Strimpel
