FOOTBALL: Diego Maradona was last night axed as Argentina coach after the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) executive committee voted unanimously not to renew his contract.
The former playing legend was reportedly keen to remain stay in the job but rejected a demand from AFA president Julio Grondona that he change his backroom staff following his side’s heavy 4-0 World Cup quarter-final defeat to?Germany in South Africa.
