Northern Line services will be disrupted next week – and over the next three weekends

The Northern Line will be disrupted over the next three weekends, and from Monday to Friday next week, as Transport for London (TfL) carries out track replacement work at Camden Town station.

From Monday to Friday next week, northbound Charing Cross branch trains will travel only to High Barnet or Mill Hill East, while northbound Bank branch trains will only go to Edgware.

TfL advised customers to begin their journeys on the correct branch of the Northern Line, and to avoid changing at Camden Town or Euston during peak evening hours – especially between 5:30pm and 6:30pm.

In addition, Camden Town station will be exit only between 4pm and 7pm on weekdays next week, and TfL said trains may not stop there at all if the station gets too busy. Customers will instead have to use Mornington Crescent or Chalk Farm stations.

Meanwhile, Northern Line services will be altered over the following weekends:

  • Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July
  • Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August
  • Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August

There will be no service between Hampstead/High Barnet/Mill Hill East and Charing Cross/Moorgate on these dates. A replacement bus service will be provided instead.

“While Camden Town is one of the busiest junctions on the Tube network, it still relies on decades-old infrastructure," said London Underground director of strategy and service development David Hughes.

"Replacing the tracks will improve reliability for our customers and will ensure we're prepared for the future. Though we try to carry out as much of our improvement work as possible when the Tube is closed, we need to make service changes this time to enable us to carry on behind the scenes.

"We're working hard to keep disruption to a minimum and we thank our customers for their patience while this vital upgrade is carried out.”
