Olympic squad set to rise to 500
OLYMPICS: Great Britain look set to be represented by their biggest ever Olympic squad when the Games come to London in 2012. Subject to funding approval, Olympic chiefs hope a squad of over 500 athletes will turn out for Team GB – an increase on the 311 sent to the Beijing Games in 2008.
“We will not be taking any passengers,” said BOA chairman Colin Moynihan. “Exacting standards will ensure Team GB are truly the best of British.”
