Out-of-favour Kamara earns Fulham

CSKA MOSCOW (1) vs FULHAM (1)

FORGOTTEN striker Diomansy Kamara secured a patched-up Fulham a creditable draw in Sofia last night.

Boss Roy Hodgson gave notice of his intentions in Europe this season by making no fewer than nine changes from the side which beat Everton on Sunday. But still his men got their campaign off to a positive start after Kamara’s effort had levelled from Michel’s fine 63rd-minute opener.

“It was a difficult game as we knew it would be,” a delighted Hodgson said afterwards. “We had a few injuries and also decided to rest a few players. But the fact we have come away from a real challenge with a 1-1 draw means I cannot be anything but delighted.”

The Cottagers always looked in control until the hosts enjoyed a lively spell after the break, resulting in Michel firing home from 20 yards.

Just three minutes later, however, Kamara, currently out-of-favour at Craven Cottage, latched onto an Erik Nevland through ball and rounded the keeper to earn his side a precious point.
