Pentonville prison escape: Inmates still on the run
Two prisoners who escaped from HMP Pentonville in north London yesterday are still at large.
Two men broke out of the Islington prison on Monday morning, and it is believed guards were fooled into believing the pair were still in their bunks by pillows – earlier reports claimed mannequins were used to trick prison officers.
The Metropolitan Police named the men as James Anthony Whitlock and Matthew Baker, and advised members of the public not to approach the pair.

Whitlock, 31, was on remand having been charged with conspiracy to burgle, namely 19 offences of theft from ATMs at various locations in the south-east of England between December 2015 and August 2016.
Baker, 28, was found guilty of attempted murder two weeks ago having stabbed a man in Dagenham following a dispute. He had been remanded for sentencing on 11 November.
Whitlock is described as a white man of slim build. He has the word ‘Tracy’ tattooed on his torso. Baker is described as a white man with ginger hair.
It is not known what clothing either male had when escaping from the prison.
Police are asking the public to call them on 999 should they see either man – or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they want to remain anonymous – and not to approach them as they could become violent.
