Saved what came his way, which was very little in an embarrassingly one-sided match. Some wayward kicking.

With little to do in defence, got forward to good effect and exploited space on the right wing as Sterling drifted inside.

A rare outing on right side of central defence but could hardly have wished for an easier ride than this game.

Hungry to prove a point on return to side and at heart of much of England’s good work. Two well deserved goals.

Scored twice and linked up well with Kane again. Courageous and dignified in the face of disgusting racist abuse.

Superb ball in for Barkley’s second and laid on Sterling’s brace. Late goal a reward for captain’s unselfish display.

Looked anything but a player in a rut with an explosive opening goal and persistent penetrating runs on and off ball.
