David Cameron to tap new business advisers: Will Harriet Green and Tidjane Thiam remain in Business Advisory Group?
Prime Minster David Cameron is expected to bring on a new slate of business advisers in the coming months.
Downing Street is preparing for a shake-up of the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group (BAG), with at least a handful of BAG members from the last government not expected be asked back, Sky News first reported yesterday.
The BAG meets four times a year to discuss major economic issues. Members during the last parliament included Google chairman Eric Schmidt, John Lewis managing director Andy Street and Sir Andrew Witty, chief executive of pharma giant GlaxoSmithKline.
But many of the group’s other members from the last parliament have since switched jobs or left the corporate world altogether. They include former Thomas Cook chief executive Harriet Green, as well as Tidjane Thiam, who recently left Prudential and the UK to take the top job at Zurich-based Credit Suisse.
A Number 10 spokesperson told Morning Wire last night that the Prime Minister is “looking at a new advisory group for this parliament.”
“No decision on membership or format has been made,” they added.
