Police stand down security alert at St Thomas’ hospital

Police are dealing with a security incident at St Thomas' Hospital on the Southbank, with Westminster Bridge currently closed.

Police are dealing with a security incident at St Thomas’ Hospital on the Southbank, with Westminster Bridge currently closed.

Lambeth police said that they would provide further information when it became known.

Witnesses said that the hospital had been cordoned off while the surrounding area has been evacuated.

The alert has now been stood down, the police announced, with roads and bridges reopened.
