QUEENS PARK RANGERS missed the chance to rubber stamp their return to the Premier League after Simeon Jackson’s 95th minute winner for Norwich against Derby ruined the promotion party at Loftus Road.
A victory over Hull would’ve rendered Norwich’s victory irrelevant, but David Amoo cancelled out Wayne Routledge’s early opener in the 81st minute to leave Neil Warnock’s side sweating on events at Carrow Road.
Jackson’s strike, which completed his hat-trick, arrived with Rangers fans on the pitch prematurely toasting an elevation back to the top flight after a 15-year absence.
Rangers are still strong favourites to go up automatically – they lead third placed Cardiff by six points with two games to go and boast a vastly superior goal difference – and manager Warnock insists yesterday’s events won’t take the gloss off a hugely successful season.
He said: “I’m disappointed not to have tied it up. We are five points clear (of Norwich in second) with two games to go, you can’t ask for much more.
“It’s a healthy position to be in and it certainly makes the Watford game on Saturday more appetising.”
