What you see on the right has been unveiled today as the first detailed glimpse of Wing Commander Andy Green’s tiny cockpit inside Bloodhound SSC – the first land-speed record bid since Green reached 763mph with Thrust SSC 17 years ago. In his attempt to set a new record of 1,000mph in South Africa in 2015/2016, the former Tornado pilot will be referring to two bespoke instruments engineered by Bloodhound sponsor Rolex: an analogue speedometer and chronograph, sitting either side of the dashboard – essential and independently controlled compliments to the central electronic screens.
