Ronaldo wins the cup for Real
FOOTBALL: Cristiano Ronaldo’s extra-time header won the Copa del Rey for Real Madrid, their first win in the competition since 1993, against Barcelona in Valencia. The world’s most expensive footballer rose high to meet Angel di Maria’s cross and powered his header past stand-in Barca keeper Jose Manuel Pinto in the first period of extra time. The win secured Jose Mourinho’s first trophy as Real Madrid boss and, following Saturday’s 1-1 La Liga draw at the Bernabeu, gave Real the advantage in the quadruple head-to-head over the next month with arch-rivals Barca. The two clubs meet again in the Champions League later this month.
