Serena claims Open honours
TENNIS: Serena Williams beat her sister and defending champion, Venus Williams, to win the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha.
Both women played with heavy strapping around their leg, but Serena came through 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) against her older sibling in one hour, 25 minutes of a low-key final. Serena now ends the year as world No1.
