Aerial London: Seven amazing photographs of the City

Have you ever wondered what the City looks like if you're hanging out of a helicopter, and about 1,000ft high?

Jason Hawkes, who is one of the world's top aerial photographers, has carved a career out of doing just that. His portfolio features aerial shots of some of the city's most famous skyscrapers like the Gherkin and the Shard.

The below series of photographs will show you the City from a whole a bird's eye view. They run from Tower Bridge over the Thames, westwards to St Paul's Cathedral, and also include Canary Wharf.

The pictures capture the City at different times of the day: dawn, when it's eerily quiet before the morning rush, to calmer afternoons, as well as late at night, when the City is lit up but deserted.
