De la Rosa back in the hot seat
FORMULA ONE: Pedro de la Rosa is back in F1 for the first time since 2006 after signing up for the Sauber team for the 2010 season.
The 38-year-old Spaniard, a veteran of 71 grands prix, has been plying his trade as a reserve driver with McLaren, but now teams up with Japanese team-mate Kamui Kobayashi.
“I always firmly believed I would be given another chance as a team driver,” he said. “I’m really excited about the season with Sauber.”
Best named in Ireland squad
RUGBY UNION: Ulster hooker Rory Best could be set for an unexpected return for the Six Nations Championship after being named in Ireland’s extended 44-man squad.
Best has not played this season due to a serious neck injury but could be back earlier than expected.
He joins nine uncapped players in the squad including Ulster team-mates Dan Tuohy and Declan Fitzpatrick.
Mosley in line for Mayweather
BOXING: Shane Mosley is being lined up for a dream showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The WBA welterweight champion is on the look-out for a new opponent after his scheduled bout with WBC holder Andre Berto was postponed after he lost family members in the Haiti earthquake disaster.
Mayweather is also seeking a new opponent after his proposed megafight with Manny Pacquiao in March was called off.
Openers lead India charge
CRICKET: Openers Gautam Gambhir (47no) and Virender Sehwag (45) helped India regain control of their first Test with Bangladesh.
The pair put on an opening stand of 90 to help the tourists to 122-1 at the close of day three.
India had earlier dismissed the hosts for 242 – despite a 108-stand between Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim – one run short of India’s first-innings total.
