Vesty completes Bath switch
RUGBY UNION: Leicester and England international fly-half Sam Vesty has confirmed his switch to Bath in the summer on a three-year-deal.
The 28-year-old has spent 13 years at Welford Road but has fallen behind Toby Flood and Jeremy Staunton in the pecking order this season.
Vesty will join Tigers team-mate Lewis Moody at the Recreation Ground.
Cooper out for the season
RUGBY UNION: Cardiff Blues scrum-half Gareth Cooper will miss the rest of the season after being told he needs surgery on a groin injury.
Cooper, 30, is expected to be out for up to eight weeks and is also a doubt for Wales’ summer tour of New Zealand.
Do or Die for Murphy
RACING: Timmy Murphy will pair up with 2008 winner and last year’s runner-up Comply Or Die in Saturday’s Grand National.
Murphy opted for David Pipe’s charge ahead of stablemate The Package, who will now be ridden by Graham Lee.
Surrey net Symonds deal
CRICKET: Surrey have signed controversial Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds for their 2010 Twenty20 campaign. The 34-year-old, who has played 26 Tests and 198 one-day internationals for Australia, has county experience with Kent, Lancashire and Gloucestershire.
Surrey chief Chris Adams said: “There aren’t many out there better than Andrew Symonds.”
London chiefs clamping down
OLYMPICS: Olympic chiefs insist a record numbers of drugs tests will be carried out at London 2012 – a 10 per cent increase on Beijing in 2008.
Debbie Jevans, director of the London Organising Committee (Locog) said: “We need a strong message that drugs cheats are not welcome.”
