Murray back at Queen’s
TENNIS: British No1 Andy Murray will defend his Aegon Championships title at Queen’s Club next month.
The 22-year-old became the first British player to win the grass court title last year since Bunny Austin in 1938 after beating James Blake in the final.
Joining a line-up including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Roddick for the 7 June start, Murray said: “It’s a great time of the year though and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Potter to leave St Helens
RUGBY LEAGUE: St Helens head coach Mick Potter will leave the club at the end of the Super League season to pursue a career in the Australian NRL.
“It’s always been my intention to one day coach in the NRL and it’s something I truly believe I am ready for,” Potter said.
Mowbray in line for Sky Blues job
FOOTBALL: Ex-Celtic boss Tony Mowbray is the early favourite to take over as manager of Coventry City after Chris Coleman was sacked following a disappointing end to the season.
Coleman paid the price for a run of 11 games without a win, culminating in a 4-0 home defeat by Watford on Sunday.
A club statement said: “[This] was not a knee-jerk reaction to Sunday’s match.”
AEG linked with Olympic Stadium
OLYMPICS: AEG, the owner of the O2 Arena, has emerged as a contender to take over the Olympic Stadium once the London 2012 Games have finished.
The American company is one of 106 parties to have expressed an interest in the 80,000-seater stadium and have until 17 May to submit a formal declaration. A decision will be made in July.
