Teenage Lancashire batsman Haseeb Hameed expected to get England call for tour of Bangladesh
England are expected to pick teenage Lancashire star Haseeb Hameed for next month’s controversial tour of Bangladesh when they name their squad on Friday.
Hameed has played his way into contention to become captain Alastair Cook’s opening partner after a stellar county season which has yielded more than 1,000 runs.
The 19-year-old from Bolton is in line to be England’s youngest ever opener and only the second teenager to represent them in Test cricket since 1949.

England will be without batsman Alex Hales and one-day skipper Eoin Morgan for the tour, which includes three 50-over clashes and two Tests, after they opted out due to security concerns.
Northamptonshire batsman Ben Duckett, who has hit more than 2,000 runs in all formats this summer, has also been tipped for a first call-up, with James Vince expected to be dropped.
Middlesex close in on County Championship
Middlesex will take a nine-point lead into their final County Championship Division One match against title rivals Yorkshire next week after their contest with Lancashire ended in a draw.
Third-placed Somerset, who beat Yorkshire by 10 wickets, can still overtake both teams if they beat bottom club Nottinghamshire and Middlesex fail to win.
