Tevez says ‘I’m off’ in parting shot at ‘disrespectful’ United

CARLOS TEVEZ has delivered a sensational parting shot at Manchester United, accusing the club of showing him a lack of respect.

The Argentina international is unhappy at the amount of time he’s spent on the substitute’s bench this season and admits his days at Old Trafford look numbered following the end of his two-year loan spell.

Tevez is yet to agree a deal to stay with the newly-crowned Premier League champions and is being linked with a move to arch-rivals Liverpool, much to the disgust of his adoring army of United fans.

And the 25-year-old looked closer to the exit door last night after hitting out at his treatment by boss Sir Alex Ferguson. Speaking to Argentinian TV station TYC, Tevez said: “I know that I am not going to continue at Manchester United. I feel that they have lacked respect towards me. It’s not about whether they pay £5m more or £5m less, but I feel I have been badly treated.

“There are ways in which the club is managed that I don’t understand. When you don’t agree with the manager in how the club is run… I don’t have faith in a lot of things that happen here. I’ve been here for two years and the directors have never come to speak to me. Not once have I had a meeting with them. Therefore, it’s best that I leave the club so as not to clash with Alex Ferguson and the directors. Neither do I understand why I don’t play in the team.”

United chief executive David Gill responded to Tevez’s comments yesterday, but insisted the Argentinian could still have a future at the club. He said: “I haven’t seen them, I haven’t read them. I don’t think it’s right to do these negotiations through the press.

“If he’s said that I think it’s borne out of frustration but he’s got to understand, and I’m sure his advisers understand, these are big decisions to be taken, large amounts of money, and I think the timeline isn’t quite as quick as some people would want it to be.”
