We recommend the best dim sum in this great city of ours.

1. Hutong

31 St Thomas St, London SE1

Why not eat your dim sum up London’s biggest sky scraper? Hutong has a large selection of dim sum, with highlights including shredded turnip puffs with spring onion and shrimp rolls with thousand-year egg.

2. Hakkasan

8 Hanway Place, W1T

This Michelin-starred heavyweight from Alan Yau serves dim sum platters late into the night. The treats showcase top ingredients made for fine dining, like the crab noodle rolls and scallop shuma with tobiko caviar.

3. Drunken Monkey

222 Shoreditch high street, e1

DJs create a party atmosphere, there’s a simple but undeniably delicious menu, and it’s home to one of the best cocktail happy hours within walking distance of the City. What’s not to love?

4. Leong’s Legend

4 Macclesfield St, London W1D

This authentic Taiwanese restaurant features dimly-lit tables and an interesting take on dim sum, featuring things like beef tendon and duck’s tongues.

5. Royal China

24-26 Baker Street, W1U

Smart décor and great service is what this six-strong franchise is known for, along with its tiny roast pork buns and black bean soya and chilli chicken feet (if you’re feeling brave).

6. Min Jiang

2-24 Kensington High St, W8 4PT

Kensington locals sing the praises of what claims to be London’s most authentic Chinese restaurant . Just £15 will get you a plate of delicious dim sum.

7. Shanghai Blues

193-197 High Holborn, WC1V 7BD

This restaurant serving Shanghai cuisine is all about its lunchtime courses of dim sum: lawyers and City-folk alike flock here for delicacies like the roast duck in octopus juice, and scallop and spinach dumplings.

8. Phoenix Place

5 Glentworth street, nw1

This plush eatery is a real local favourite in Marylebone; it has a whole wall filled with snaps of its famous patrons to prove it. There’s a breath-taking selection of dim sum on offer here, but the barbecue suckling pig with jelly fish is particularly popular.
