Time for festive frocks

CHRISTMAS party season attracts its share of Grinch-like moaners. But let’s face it: a chance to roll out one fun frock after the next is good fun.

Regarding the phrase “fun frock” – feel free to substitute “fun” with “glamorous” or “hot” or “lovely”. Anyway, the point is that you have to have a party wardrobe you’re proud of. But what should it look like?

Kara Iland, fashion maven and founder of super-cool private fashion boutique Rous Iland (a favourite with City ladies), says: “The look this season is very much covered-up chic. We’re expecting snow so not too much skin on display. Lace is a great way to cover up, still allowing a hint of flesh in an elegant way.” Full-length, says Iland, is a good way to go, so long as it’s elegant and figure-hugging – one-shoulder is always a winner. “And sparkles are prevalent every Christmas – a 1920s art deco style is a good option.” Don’t forget edgy accessories either.
